Who Turns Up
Call the number below and you get someone who works out of 149 Palos Verdes Blvd, Redondo Beach, CA 90277, not a call center reading from a script. We run jobs across a mile southeast of the shop, and out to all within a few miles. We also take calls from Lawndale, El Segundo, Palos Verdes Estates, Lomita, Gardena, West Carson, and the rest of the towns within about a fifteen-mile radius of the shop. Most of the houses we work on in this stretch of the South Bay went up between 1947 and 2012, with the bulk dating to the 1960s and 70s. That means a lot of original torsion hardware, older rail styles, and panel sizes that newer manufacturers don't always stock off the shelf. Whoever answers your call is going to ask what the door is doing, what it sounds including and roughly how old the house is, because that tells us more than a model number does before we even get in the truck.
What We Are Called Out For
The calls we get most are broken torsion springs on double doors, openers that hum but won't lift
Cables that have frayed off the drum, and rollers that have worn down to the point the door walks sideways in the track. The mild temperate climate out here doesn't throw the kind of freeze-thaw cycling that cracks panels or seizes springs the way it does inland, so a lot of what we see is just age and use catching up with a door that's been running the same hardware for decades.
On the older stock built mid-century, we see one-piece doors on side-mounted torsion setups that nobody has made parts for in a long time
Which usually means a full hardware swap rather than a patch. On newer builds we're mostly dealing with sensor misalignment, worn weatherstripping, and openers that have hit the end of their circuit board life. We also get calls for doors that won't close because of a bent track or a misaligned bottom bracket, which is often simpler and cheaper to fix than homeowners expect.

Work We Turn Down
We don't take on jobs where the door or opener is so far gone that repair costs more than a straightforward replacement would run, and we'll say that plainly on the phone before we schedule a visit. We also don't install gate operators or work on doors that aren't residential garage doors - no commercial rolling steel, no automatic driveway gates. If a part is genuinely obsolete and the manufacturer has stopped making it, we'll tell you that up front instead of stringing out a repair that won't hold. That's not us being difficult, it's just a cleaner outcome for you than a patch job that fails again in six months.

Frequently asked
Straight answers about garage door repair in Redondo Beach. Still unsure? Ask us directly.
My garage door is original to a 1960s house in Redondo Beach - can it still be repaired?
Often, yes. A lot of original hardware from that era is torsion springs and steel track, both of which get replaced individually without touching the door panels. The panels themselves are the limiting factor - if they're rusted or the seams have let go, repair isn't worth it. If it's just springs, cables, or rollers, those get fixed regardless of the door's age.
Why does my opener work but the door won't move?
Nine times out of ten that's a broken spring, not the opener. The opener motor still runs because the circuit board is fine, but without spring tension the door is too heavy for the motor to lift on its own, so it either stalls or the opener strains and shuts off. Don't keep hitting the button - that burns out the motor trying to fight dead weight.
Do you work on houses out toward?
Yes, both are within our normal service area, a few miles from the core of Redondo Beach. Hardware and wear patterns differ slightly block to block depending on the house's age and how close it sits to the coast, but the repair work is the same.
How long does a spring replacement actually take?
If we've diagnosed it as a straightforward broken torsion or extension spring and the part is a common size, it's usually a same-visit repair. It runs longer if the spring size is unusual for the door's weight or age, which happens more on original hardware from older houses, since that sometimes means ordering a specific size.
